This mural project was unique,  The request was to have 2 of 3 murals painted inside of a ‘cold room’, with temperatures in the 40° Fahrenheit range.  As a result, it was imperative that the appropriate paints be used to ensure adherence to slick CMU walls in a permanently cold environment.  The product used was Enamel Paints.

The challenge when using gold paint is that is be distributed evenly with as little coverage imperfections as practically possible.  Gold paint always proves to be very difficult to work with not only because of it’s ‘watery’ base that tends to run/drip easily, but also due to it’s much longer than normal drying time.  To make the process more challenging, the type of paint also tends to stick to the stencil material much faster than standard latex paint.

The end result was one that the customer was much more than pleased.  The ‘Budweiser Eagle‘ was the point of attraction for all that viewed the murals.  The amount of detail, crisp clean edges and extremely smooth finish despite the gold paint was of central focus to the customer.

The final mural was painted with standard latex paint outdoors on a wood surface.
